Joss Stone

Joss Stone has paid tribute to soul legend Solomon Burke who died in Holland on Sunday (10Oct10), insisting it was an "honour and privilege" to perform with the star earlier this year (10).

The Everybody Needs Somebody To Love hitmaker passed away after landing at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. He was 70.

Stone, who toured Europe with the Grammy-winner over the summer (10), has now praised Burke for both his professional and personal achievements.

In a post on her blog, she writes, "Solomon Burke has passed away. His soul is now set free to live in heaven with his friends Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and James Brown. Solomon dedicated his life to giving people hope and good feeling through the mighty power that lives in music.

"I worked with him not long ago... He taught me so much in such a small amount of time.

"There was nothing but love coming from him. He was a gentleman, a father, teacher, artist, and the best kind of all those things. It was an honour and a privilege to be on the same stage as that man. I was particularly impressed by his daughters.

"What strong, confident, elegant women. He was proud of them and that was clear. The legend that is Solomon Burke is here to stay with us forever. I think if any one deserves a rest it's him."
