Johnny Cash's collaborator dies after tribute concert

Johnny Cash's lifetime collaborator Marshall Grant as passed away, only days after paying tribute to the late music icon at a family festival.

The musician, a member of Cash's original backing band died on Sunday aged 83.

He had been taking part in the concert where the legend's children, sinlings and pals all took to the stage in memory of the star.

Johnny's daughter Rosanna Cash led the tributes to Grant on Twitter: "Grateful I was w/ (with) him last 2 days. Boom Chicka Boom, old friend... He was my 'back-up dad'. Lot of bass players owe him a debt."

Grant formed the Tennessee Two with his friend Lurther Perkins and they played with Cash from 1954 - 1980.

He went on to retire and spent his last few years on his ranch in Mississippi.
