Welsh Hendrix Recording Was Hoax.... A recording of the Welsh anthem Land Of My Fathers supposedly performed by Jimi Hendrix during the 1970s has been exposed as a hoax.The owner of the tape, former record producer MarTin Davies, concedes he asked his friend, musician John Ellis, to play a Hendrix-style version of the song.Davies says, "I could be accused of hoaxing but it was only a bit of fun. A lot of people had a lot of fun with it."The supposed Hendrix track was played on UK current affairs programme Newsnight in January (07), sparking worldwide interest in the tune.Davies claims he put the song on his website - with a story about its discovery - expecting a small response. However, 35 million Hendrix fans around the world believed the tale.
