Jim Sturgess feels indebted to director friend Julie Taymore for including him a Spider-Man jamming session with his heroes Bono and The Edge.
The U2 legends were working on the music for the ambitious Spider-Man musical and she decided to call her Across the Universe stars Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood for a workshop session.
He says: "We were sorta going over their songs because I guess they wanted to hear what the songs sounded like coming out of actors' mouths when they're moving around and stuff.
"I have this amazing recording of me singing with The Edge playing the guitar, Bono as my backing singer and he's whispering, because I keep forgetting the lyrics... so you could hear him on the recording, like, whispering the lyrics into my ear."
Reeve Carney landed the lead role in the eagerly anticipated project when it opened in New York last year.
