Isn’t this quite possibly the craziest headline you’ve ever read? A pair of X factor finalists more popular than the best British band of all time… erm, hello?
Anyway, the ‘bombshell’ found its way into my inbox via an online poll hosted on paddypower.com, which has shown that Irish X-Factor twins John and Edward are more popular than The Beatles. Yeah, right.
The poll asked participants who they believe is the greatest boy band of all time and out of the 1,300 individual votes cast over the past five days, twins John and Edward were first past the post with 45% of the vote (660 votes), followed by The Beatles with 33% of the vote (490 votes), Take That on 14% (210 votes), Westlife on 5% (70 votes) and finally last year’s X-Factor runners-up JLS with 3% of the vote (40 votes).
I mean, is the world going totally crazy? Clearly a huge percentage of those 1,300 individuals need to spend more time education themselves in the world of music rather than relying on their telly to dictate who’s hot and who’s not.
Paddy Power said “We’re genuinely gob-smacked with this result and would have presumed that the Fab Four would have easily topped this poll but once again Jedward have exceeded expectations and caused yet another upset”
