Oritse Williams says people said that JLS were a "waste of time" and would never work.
The 26-year-old singer who was catapulted to the spotlight on 'X Factor' in 2008 alongside JB Gill, Marvin Humes and Aston Merrygold claims when they first formed in 2006, not a lot of people had faith.
Speaking to reporters at the Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball on Oritse explained: "Everyone said to me that it wouldn't work, everyone said I was wasting my time and seven years of amazing success just proved everyone wrong."
The British boy band - who announced they were going to split earlier this year - have enjoyed years of success since their first two singles 'Beat Again' and 'Everybody in Love' which went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart upon their release.
Oritse insists hard work and dedication helped to make their dreams come true.
He explained: "It just goes to show that if you have a dream, if you have a vision, if you believe in yourself and you work hard enough, you can make it happen."
The 'One Shot' hit-maker claims he would "love" to return to the 'X Factor' if he was asked to appear on the ITV show as a judge.
The star added: "How would I save X Factor? I'd get on it. If it was offered to me I'd love it."
JLS will bid farewell to their fans with 'Goodbye: Greatest Hits' which is released on...and their last ever single is 'Billion Lights' is out now.
