British star James Blunt has called on tabloids to stop focusing on the trivial exploits of pantyless celebrities - because it takes away from more important issues.The You'Re Beautiful singer, a former British soldier, is desperate to force news publications to turn away from the current celebrity culture and return to covering more meaningful causes.He tells American publication Life, "The notion of fame is such a distraction from what I do."And it's unhealthy when we have things like war and global warming going on.We need to adjust the balance."Stop producing magazines that publish pictures of celebrities jumping out of cars with no underwear on."In other news the British singer has slammed his sensitive image as a songwriter and insists he really is a party animal.The You'Re Beautiful star claims the media has it all wrong when it comes to his image - all because of his romantic hit song.

He says, "Everyone thinks I'm this quiet singer-songwriter who stays at home every night. I've never been that person. I'm a big partyer."

The 32-year-old says going out has actually helped his songwriting adding, "I drink a lot. I do."

He states, "I go to a quiet place and start writing. I'm not an observer, (songs come from) something I've experienced or felt.

"The last two years will have a place on the next record."
