Bee gees star robin gibb has apologized to fans in brazil for cancelling his dates in the country after he was taken ill and advised not to travel.
The veteran singer was due to jet to the south american country on sunday (03apr11), but he fell sick just hours before his flight and was admitted to hospital suffering acute stomach pains.
Gibb has cancelled a number of shows and postponed a planned meeting with brazil's president dilm rouseff.
He has now issued a statement apologising for the axed trip. It reads, "robin apologizes to all his fans in south america and to all the people who had worked on making this tour possible... Robin was looking forward to meeting and performing for his south american fans.
"Robin was taken ill suddenly in the early hours of sunday april 3rd, on the morning of his planned departure from the uk. An ambulance was called, and, on medical advice, he has been advised not to risk travelling."
No further details about gibb's condition have emerged since his hospitalisation. His representative previously said, "we are not sure what's wrong with him at this stage and are worried. We don't know if it is a recurrence of the previous problem or if it is something else entirely."
Gibb underwent emergency stomach surgery for a blocked intestine last year (10).
