Chicago Cubs superfan Eddie Vedder got to live out his dream at baseball mecca Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (03Aug07) - by training with the team. The Pearl Jam rocker was in town for the weekend's Lollapalooza festival and took time out on Friday afternoon to drop by the ballpark to watch his beloved Cubs take on the New York Mets.Vedder, who was born in Evanston, Illinois, warmed up with Cubs star Kerry Wood before the big game and then threw out the ceremonial first pitch, wearing one of Wood's jerseys. The rocker returned later in the game to sing baseball anthem Take Me Out To The Ball Game during the seventh inning stretch - the fourth time Vedder has had that honour since performing the song on Independence Day (04Jul) in 1998.The superstar Cubs fan is now hoping the team adopts his new club anthem, which he performed for the first time at a pre-Lollapalooza show in Chicago on Thursday night (02Aug07).The Pearl Jam frontman told fans he was asked to pen a new post-game tune by his childhood baseball hero, Ernie Banks, who played for the Cubs throughout his 28-year-career.Vedder says, "Ernie Banks asked me to write it."The Cubs' current post-game anthem, played as fans leave Wrigley Field after every home win, is Steve Goodman's Go Cubs Go.
