Sony Music will release My Heart, the long-awaited new studio album from legendary Hollywood singer and actress and Doris Day, on 5th September 2011.
This collection is Doris Day’s first studio album of new material in 17 years; a dozen songs of a timeless quality, with nine brand-new recordings produced by Day’s late son, Terry Melcher, plus a trio of Day classics.
Ms. Day has been fully involved with the musical selections for this special release.
Also on the set list are three classic rock-era favorites: Joe Cocker’s beautiful ballad‘You Are So Beautiful’, the Lovin’ Spoonful’s joyful 1966 hit ‘Daydream’ and The Beach Boys’ nostalgic ‘Disney Girls,’
“I had to sing some modern songs,” Doris remarks, “because I had already done all the old ones.”
The most personal track for Ms. Day on the album is the vintage standard ‘My Buddy,’ which Doris sang in her 1951 film I’ll See You In My Dreams. She dedicates the song to her son Terry, who died of melanoma in 2004.
Ms. Day says that she's delighted her music has withstood the test of time and that she still has a loyal listenership, spanning the generations. "It's just such a thrill, and I'm honoured" she says.
