The astronaut featured on the cover of Dido's 2008 album Safe Trip Home has filed suit against the singer for using his image without authorisation.
Bruce McCandless II is pictured free flying in space above the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger, and Dido used the iconic 1984 image for her cover art, but McCandless, the first astronaut to make an untethered free flight in space, claims he never gave the British star permission to use the photo.
Executives at Sony Music Entertainment and Getty Images Inc. have been named alongside Dido in the lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles federal court last week.
He is seeking unspecified damages, citing that the use of the image is an infringement of his persona, according to Bloomberg.
