Hurt: Dice Raw
Dice Raw, rapper in The Roots, is struggling to walk after being injured in a serious car crash last week.
The rapper, a longtime contributor to hip-hop group The Roots, was involved in a horrific traffic collision in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 5 January. He claims a woman drove her car through a red light and smashed into his Jaguar, leaving him with cuts to his face and injuries to his ankle and knee. He was treated in a local hospital after the crash.
Raw - real name Karl Jenkins - told Allhiphop.com, "It happened so fast - I was turning and this silly b**ch decided she couldn't wait two seconds and swerved around someone that was stopped and blew through the red light. My car got totalled, my face got all cut up, my ankle and knee are f**ked and I still can't walk."
He credits his friends and family with helping him as he recovers, and insists the experience has inspired him to get more involved in charity work once he's back on his feet.
Raw says, "It made me realize I got good people around me - my parents dropped everything and came through... Since I'm laid up now for almost a week, I've been thinking about all the handicap people who are less fortunate... I'm definitely going to be figuring out how to get more involved and give my time to handicap organisations to raise awareness.”
