Donald Trump fronts the show
Debbie Gibson has signed up for the fifth season of U.S. reality TV show The Celebrity Apprentice so she can raise cash for desperate Indian children.
The Shake Your Love singer will face off against other stars on the show, which is fronted by property tycoon Donald Trump, and she'll be competing to help provide 5,000 poor children in India with medical and dental care and educational support as part of a campaign for Children's International.
The organisation's president and CEO Jim Cook says: "Children International is fortunate to have such a dedicated supporter as Debbie Gibson. She has proven she is an ardent advocate for children living in the most extreme poverty."
Gibson has been a supporter of the U.S.-based humanitarian organisation since 1990 and she currently helps support seven-year-old Helen, her mother and five siblings, who live in a cemetery in Manila, Philippines.
The family guard a cemetery crypt and survive on less than $11 a month. With Gibson's help, Helen and her siblings now receive medical and dental care and attend school.
Joining Gibson on The Celebrity Apprentice this season are former model Cheryl Tiegs, funnyman Arsenio Hall, Lou Ferrigno, Clay Aiken, rocker Dee Snider, George Takei, former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza, actress Tia Carrere and illusionist Penn Jillette.
