A man who threatened to kill British singer Cheryl Tweedy has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Alan Linton sent menacing letters to Scottish newspapers, which included a threat to put a bullet through Cole's head when she performed with her band Girls Aloud in Glasgow, Scotland last year (09).
The 32 year old, who has a history of mental illness, sent similar notes to the managers of soccer stadium Celtic Park in Glasgow, claiming he would blow up the venue and shoot former goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
At the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday (06Aug10), Judge Lady Smith told Linton she would have jailed him for 33 months but reduced his sentence following his guilty plea.
She told Linton, "The threats you made were very upsetting and distressing."
