Chaka Khan win temporary custody of granddaughter
Chaka Khan has won her bid for temporary custody of her granddaughter.
The I'm Every Woman singer applied for guardianship of the 10-year-old last week, claiming in her petition that the child's mother is incapable of caring for her as she has 'heavy involvement in drugs'.
Khan also revealed she has "assumed on a day-to-day basis the role of the child's parent fulfilling both the child's physical and psychological needs for care and affection".
The star's sister Tammy McCrary filed an additional document stating that Khan's son also 'uses and abuses drugs and other illegal substances'.
A hearing is set for October to make the custody permanent, according to TMZ.com.
