Carlos Santana has been honoured by officials in California who have named a school after him.
Executives of the LA Unified school board have approved plans to rename Valley Region Elementary School No. 12 in the San Fernando Valley after the veteran musician to recognise his career achievements and charity work with children.
The facility will be renamed the Carlos Santana Arts Academy.
The guitarist, who was born in Mexico, but spent most of his childhood in San Fransico, wrote a letter of thanks to the officials in accepting the honour and confirmed his committment to helping educational causes.
He writes: "Each child's soul is the seed that contains light and love. By investing in patience compassion, kindness, and gentle wisdom, each child will bear fruit of divinity."
