This morning we brought you the news that the band who were all over my school pencil case, Busted, were planning on making a comeback, we can now confirm that whilst James Bourne and Matt Willis might be having a jamming’ session in their garage, Charlie Simpson will not be joining them.
In an official statement; the band's manager said: "There is categorically NO CHANCE that Charlie will, would or otherwise be involved in any Busted reunion. End of story."
Whilst we loved the idea of dragging out our old converse, studded belts and skater pants, we have to admit that it’s probably for the best that we leave Busted in the past now, we’ve all moved on (and we have to admit, Charlie’s new band does get a bit of a beating on our iPod at the gym, so we don’t know what we’d do without that!)
But don’t worry guys, just because Charlie isn’t going back to the old school doesn’t mean we won’t be hearing from him soon… we caught up our favourite drummer, and Fightstar rocker Omar Abidi who told us; “ Charlie and the rest of us had a good chuckle at the prospect of him going back to rejoin his former band mates, in all reality, we have just had the best year of our careers and are now on a little rest with Charlie focussing on a solo acoustic album, Al and Dan on their own project and me on my Management company, well as electronic project I have had in the bag for a while. We will be back in 2011 with more Fightstar, but no, no chance of him getting back into Busted. Full Stop!"
Charlie Simpson also added; "Fightstar have been together for 6 years now and we have made 3 albums that we are all extremely proud of. We are now in a more creative place than ever before and there is absolutely no sign of it slowing down. We have a very dedicated fan base that has been with us from the start and no doubt will be with us for a very long time.
"I wish Matt and James all the best with their future projects but I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have no interest what-so-ever in re-joining Busted and I never will. I am at a point in my life were I am content and happy and I wouldn’t change it for the world."
So there we have it, no more Busted but LOTS more Fightstar…. We think we like that idea!
