Lieutenant David Grimes of the Los Angeles Police Department, West L.A.

station, confirms, "Ms. Spears's car was impounded.

"Officers on the scene told me it was blocking the roadway, and that it was unsafe enough to leave at the location.

"(The car) was towed by a private company that's contracted with the city.

Her car is being held at the official police garage tow yard."

But Grimes claims Spears will not be hit with any more legal woes relating to the incident, adding: "She won't get any citations or fines."

Then in yet more bizarre twists BRITNEY Spears' ex husband Kevin Federline has reportedly launched a legal battle to stop his ex dating a British photographer.

The Toxic hitmaker sparked rumours of a romance with Adnan Ghalib after spending the night with him in a Los Angeles hotel last month (Dec07).

But Federline is said to be unhappy with his former wife's new lover and has started investigating Ghalib's immigration status.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Kevin and his legal team want to get Britney away from him. They are concerned she has completely lost all sense of reality.

"Dating a photographer who has tailed her for months is like sleeping with the enemy. Kevin's team want him sent home if he hasn't got his papers in order."

Spears reportedly described Ghalib as her "only friend" after she was admitted to hospital following a stand-off with police at her Los Angeles home last week (ends04Jan08).
