Boyz II Men have set up their own campaign to raise funds for the Japanese relief effort and have appealed to fans to help them reach their goal of $100,000 (£66,700).
The End of the Road stars have teamed up with FirstGiving.com to create the charity drive with the hope of generating cash to boost aid efforts by the American National Red Cross.
Volunteers from aid organisations around the world have flown into action to help the victims of the Japanese disaster after a 9.0-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday (11Mar11). The huge tremor was followed by a massive tidal wave, and the death toll from the tragedy has already reached 1,300, with thousands more people reported missing.
Boyz II Men singers Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris are doing their bit for charity and are urging fans to donate what they can to help those in need.
In a message posted on FirstGiving.com, they say: "We, Boyz II Men, have a very special relationship with the people of Japan. We have been going to Japan for the past 20 years and we are deeply concerned for the people of Japan and especially for our friends and fans who reside in Sendai and all the areas affected by this earthquake and tsunami...
"Please join us in our effort to raise money through the Red Cross of America to help people in need. We ask all of our fans across the world to join us as we attempt to do something meaningful. Thank you in advance for your contribution."
The trio had already raised more than $6,500 (£4,330) by Sunday afternoon (13Mar11).
A host of other celebrities have also continued to rally support from fans via Twitter.com to donate to the relief effort.
Katy Perry took to her blog on Sunday, writing: "Remember as you go about your day please #prayforjapan & if you are able, text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to Japan's emergency relief"
Rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been keeping up his efforts over the weekend (12-13Mar11), retweeting the message: "EVERYONE KEEP TEXTING!! The quake & tsunami victims in Japan Need Us!!!"
