Black Sabbath were forced to pull the plug on a headlining spot at this year's (Apr12) Coachella Festival in California after guitarist Tony Iommi was diagnosed with cancer.
The rock icons were billed to perform at the six-day event but pulled out just before the line-up was made official on Monday (09Jan12), according to Billboard.com, hours after Iommi went public with his recent lymphoma diagnosis.
It is unclear which artist was drafted in at the last minute to fill the spot left by Black Sabbath, but Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, the Black Keys and Radiohead have been announced as the official headliners.
Each act will play two festival-ending sets a week apart.
At press time, it wasn't clear if Black Sabbath's previously announced headlining slot at the Download Festival in England would be cancelled.
The group reformed in November (11) and announced plans to record a new album and tour in 2012.
