Bette Midler is contemplating removing a pair of bedazzled shoes from an upcoming auction because the prized keepsakes were a gift from Cher.
The singer has given fans the chance to own some of her most iconic costumes by putting rare memorabolia from her private collection up for sale for the New York Restoration Project.
However, while showcasing some of the pieces, Midler reconsidered her decision to palce a colourful pair of platforms under the hammer, as her 17-year-old daughter Sophie is devastated about having to part with the heels.
She says: ""Cher gave me these shoes in the early '70s when these kind of platform shoes were all the rage... You cannot walk or take a step in them. My daughter is so mad about them, when she heard I was going to sell them, she got, like, panic-stricken. So I may remove them."
But Midler's daughter isn't the only one struggling with the idea of the auction, as the keepsakes bring back fond memories for the singer/actress.
She adds: "It was terribly emotional. When I saw the catalogue, which is one of the most beautiful things ever, I burst into tears because I couldn't believe it, it happened in a blink of an eye. It was so fantastic. The ride was such a wild ride. But it was 40 years... I can't believe I'm doing it."
The collection can be viewed at Julien's Auctions in Beverley Hills, California until 11 November.
