Beastie Boys star Adam “MCA” Yauch has announced  that he has cancer, and as a result the band’s tour and album will be pushed back.

Speaking through the Beastie Boys website, Adam admitted that he has been diagnosed with a tumour in a parotid gland and that although it sounds very serious, fans shouldn’t worry too much as it has been localised and is treatable.

Although his vocal abilities won’t be affected, it is thought that Yauch will need a couple of weeks worth of recovery after the procedure is over, and as a result, a number of dates from the upcoming tour have been cancelled and the new album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 has been postponed.
