Arctic Monkeys Win Big At NME Awards....
British rockers the Arctic Monkeys have emerged as the big winners at the 2008 Nme Awards, scooping a total of three awards at Thursday's (28Feb08) London ceremony.The group were awarded gongs for British Band and for Best Track (Fluorescent Adolescent) and Best Video (Teddy Picker), both of which are singles from their sophomore album Favourite Worst Nightmare.The Nme Awards have proven to be one of the most important dates in the Arctic Monkeys' calendar - it is the third consecutive year the band has taken home three prizes. This year (08), they were nominated in a record seven categories.Meanwhile, Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was named the Hero of the Year, and Welsh rockers the Manic Street Preachers were hailed with the Godlike Genius of the Year award at the event, which was held at London's IndigO2 venue.
