If you watched last nights American Music Awards, you probably saw all those screaming girls at the foot of the stage during the Jonas Brothers performance.Even when the cameras werent rolling, I can tell you the mayhem in L.A.s Nokia Theater didnt stop. Every time the show went to commercials, a handful of girls would scream, "I love you, Jonas Brothers," or some other declaration to that effect. The boys played to the crowd, standing up and waving every chance they could get. Not sure how it played on the small screen, but lead singer Joe, 17, knows how to work his rock 'n' roll persona. He didnt let a little fall on broken glass get in the way of performing. And despite some bloody bruising, he quickly returned to his seat, strutting through the aisles with a Mick Jagger swagger. At least two of the girls were a little too overeager for the security team. When they bum-rushed the stage after the Jonas' performance, a burly bodyguard quickly grabbed them by their arms and escorted them away. And its not only young girls who cant control themselves. An older woman .. Id say she was in her mid-40s .. danced her way to the front of the stage during Duran Durans performance. Again, a burly bodyguard grabbed her and pushed her back to her seat.In the press room, Céline Dion stopped what she was doing when Chris Brown performed. Im told she halted her interviews and had someone turn up the volume so she could dance along to Browns electrifying time onstage.Sadly, I hear Rihanna skipped doing press after she picked up the Favorite Soul/R&B Female award. Thats too bad. When I chatted with her in August, she couldnt have been nicer and more humble. I hope her behavior last night isnt indicative of diva antics to come.
Rihanna did make it to the after-parties, though. First, she stopped at the VIP bash. Then, she headed into the bigger, not so exclusive soiree in an adjacent tent, where she watched Brown put on an impromptu show, dancing to Michael Jackson tunes.
Rihanna and Brown were later seen leaving the parties together, with their entourages in tow.
