5 Seconds of Summer are fed up with being compared to My Chemical Romance.
The Australian band have been criticised for the similarities between their new single 'She's Kinda Hot' and My Chemical Romance's 2007 hit 'Teenagers', but while guitarist Michael Clifford has admitted their sound is similar, he insists people are always searching for something to attack them for.
Acknowledging the similarities, he said: "That's just because of the 12-bar blues.
"I think it might be in the same key as well. People were like, 'You guys should sound more like My Chemical Romance.' Then we do sound like My Chemical Romance and people are like, 'Why the f**k do you sound like My Chemical Romance?' Ugh!"
However, former frontman of the now-defunct My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way, has previously admitted he is a fan of the four-piece group, who will release their second album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' on October 23.
He said: "I think they are incredibly talented, great playing, singing."
Meanwhile, the rockers have teased their new album is "super personal" and "really diverse".
Drummer Ashton Irwin told Billboard magazine: "The new record is super personal to us.
"We all lived in a house together and recorded it and wrote it. We just care about it a lot. It's definitely an evolution from the last album. It's a bigger, more rocking sound."
Michael added: "There's lots of different s**t on it.
"It's really diverse. There are lots of key sounds we go to."
