5 Seconds Of Summer have admitted that One Direction taught them well, with the members of both bands being good friends having toured together on three occasions.
With 1D fans now looking to say goodbye to their favourite group for an unknown period of time, 5SOS could fill the gap left behind, and luckily for the four they've picked up plenty of tips from Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.
Chatting to Notion magazine, the group said: "Their story is very different to ours. Their type of music is very different to ours as well. It's a different type of journey, but to see how they've done it and the way they treat their touring crew is something we've learnt from. We just want everyone that works for us to be happy, and we wouldn't have known how to do that unless we'd toured with One Direction."
Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin make up the group, and no longer worry about whether or not they're labelled as a boy band.
They continued: "It's all about not caring what people think and say. It's like a 'f**k you' to people who say you can't be what you are. And to represent that, I don't think we should carry on asking people not to call us a boy band. We learnt our instruments, we learnt how to write songs from scratch, we love performing live and we love f**king rocking out - that's what we do, so at this stage, people can call us whatever they want."
5SOS's debut self-titled album was released last year and is available now. Their second album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' will be available from October 23.
