A promising threesome hoping to take the world of music by storm, We're No Heroes spoke to Female First in a new and exclusive interview all about themselves, their material and much more. Read on to find out what they had to say.
For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
We're all about groove. If it feels good and sounds good then we like to do it. Mostly We're No Heroes is a big melting pot of all sorts of music, from Funk to Dub, Rock to Psych & EDM all essentially inside guitar driven pop songs.
What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?
WNH started from scratch as a bunch of kids playing loud for fun wherever we could get away with it. Since then we've grown into the band we are today and faced many downs but equal ups too. From getting our very first listeners to trying to get people all over the world hear our music including all those skeptical industry ears.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
It depends what you're looking to get out of it all. If you're expecting to become famous and popular then it's going to be extremely difficult, unrewarding, empty and probably disappointing. If though, you're open hearted and you're looking for something that creates positivity then it's not hard at all, you will be happy doing something you love.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
Extremely, for it to be honest and true it's essential that we have our say throughout the entire process from the songs and sound, the artwork and the way it's all presented. We're very selective with who we work with and we only work with those real passionate people who bring their own flame to the fire.
Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
We're all from very different backgrounds and it's why we have the unique chemistry we do that we've never found else where. We do have a few mutual influences though. The music of !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Studio (Sweden), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Parliament Funkadelic to name a few but I guess the biggest influence on our music is what happened in our lives so far that brought us to today.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
There's many a musician or producer we'd love to record us or remix one of our songs. AD Lissvik or Poolside remix would be something we'd be hyped about.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
We share 29 toes between us...
Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?
We grew up watching live DVD's together of some of our favorite bands and would always say to each other "I wanna play that stage!" Well that would be nice, to get to that point and I think deep down we all know we are mutually striving for that place.
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
Bora Bora sippin' Tequila Sunrises beside a coral reef and a sea turtle or three.
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
We're dropping a number of singles the first of which will be Voodoo our on July 31st so stay in touch. We've got a newsletter you can sign up to and get exclusive news from on our website.
