The United are a boy band that have come from all over Europe with one vision, to conquer the world of pop.
The guys are set to release their new single ‘Stay Young’ and set to start a tour across Europe, so we grabbed some time with their Swedish member Gabriel about their musical influences, the reaction back home and the new release.
So, tell us a bit about the new song ‘Stay Young’.
It's a cool song, which we think fits us perfectly. It's a song that everyone can listen to and it has the perfect sound for the charts at the moment. The song is about never giving up and live here and now, follow your dreams.
Where did the name ‘The United’ come from?
We had a long list of names. Then, without looking at each other we picked five names each and the only name all five of us picked was The United.
Who are your biggest influences in music?
Right now some of them are: Justin Bieber, Robbie Williams, Chris Brown, John Mayer, The Goo Goo Dolls, One Republic, Gavin Degraw, Maroon 5.
Most of you have entered televised singing competitions in the past in your home countries, what inspired you to become musicians?
For me it's been my family first of all. Both of my parents are musicians so the music has always been around me naturally. And of course my big interest in music made it all happen.
How has the response been to the band back home?
It's been great! People from my hometown in Sweden are happy for me, and my friends and family are pushing me a lot so it's all good.
You’ve worked with some incredible artists, but which one stuck out the most in your mind?
We have a song coming featuring Robin S. It's an honour to work with her since she is a legend in the music industry.
You’re just starting your tour, which places are you looking forwards to performing the most?
The whole Europe is really exciting, because you get to meet now people and see new places. But it's gonna be really cool to go to London and perform on the BBC.
You've given your fans the chance to watch your gigs from a live stream online, what inspired this idea?
It was our managers idea to do this, and it's inspired from all the reality shows that are out there now. People love to follow whats happening live in other peoples lives.
You post a lot of videos of the band playing covers on your YouTube channel, do you perform them when you play live too?
Yes, since we only have a single out, we normally perform a few covers and our own song Stay Young!
What can we look forwards to in the future from The United?
Hopefully you will see us all over the world and on the top of the charts. We are on our promotion tour around Europe now, and when we come back we will continue working with our album. So stay tuned and you will see more from us!
