We got the opportunity to chat to the band about their music, future releases and more! Read on to find out what they had to say...
For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
Upbeat rock with punchy guitar riffs and big choruses. We want to get everyone up and dancing! We're a new four-piece fronted by songwriting duo Matt and Jess, first setting out at the end of last year. You'll hear Matt on lead vocals, Jess on lead guitar, Seth on bass and Shoji on drums.
What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?
It's been tough to find enough time for our music whilst we're doing other things to fund it. Our day jobs are a great source of inspiration for our lyrics though...
Where else do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
We write in our own style, but our debut EP draws influences from the rock legends we grew up loving, through to modern indie rock and beyond. Our lyrics are like the chapters in a book from the past few years - we write about things we've seen and experienced in our lives.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
We're a new face on the block so we're still trying to find that out... We're expecting it to be a challenge because there's so much great stuff out there, but we think we can carve out our own niche.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
We love writing our own stuff and we've got loads of ideas waiting to explore - we want to get those out! But we'd definitely be up for creative collaboration too.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
This probably sounds weird coming from a rock band, but right now we'd choose someone with an EDM background. We love the energy that's in EDM. It'd be great to work with someone so different - I think we could write some really cool stuff together.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
Jess microwaves ice cream before she eats it because she thinks it's too cold.
Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?
Yes. We have a manifesto (laughs). We'd love to be big enough to do this all the time. Watch this space!
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
We'd love to have reached new crowds with our sound, met some great people and played in great places!
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
We've just been recording a new single, which we'll be releasing before the year is out. Expect something a bit different to our debut EP - our sound is developing, so keep your eyes and ears peeled!
