Juno and Spark make up the LA-raised Synth-Pop pair Peppermint Heaven who decided the UK should be their launch pad into the world of music after a winter trip to London in early 2013.
FemaleFirst got the chance to put some questions to the two about their material, what to expect from them going forward and much more. Check out what they had to say below.
How best would you describe Peppermint Heaven as a group?
Juno: We would best be described as a synthpop duo with dance and rock overtones. I play keyboards and Spark handles bass guitar and drum programming. We both write and sing!
How did you two come together and form Peppermint Heaven?
Spark: I came to Hollywood and met Juno and we decided we wanted to pick up our career again. We were in a band together in Chicago some years back. Rehearsals brought forth an unbelievable songwriting environment that produced amazing work that is now being heard by many people around the world.
Do the pair of you ever clash over your work?
Spark: We have separate positions in this band, and we both respect each other's "universe." Sometimes we will critique each other, for we respect each other's opinion as a "fan" of the other's musical universe.
Your record 'The Delicious EP' came out last year, how did you find the response to that?
Juno: We are happy with the response we got from that release. It was a dream come true to make the Top 10 on Music Week’s Club Chart. We have always wanted something like this to happen to us, and it did! It’s given us a great foundation to build from. We are excited to continue releasing EPs and albums in the future to great success and accolades!
What creative process do you go through when putting together new material?
Spark: From drum patterns, we rehearse and write and edit ideas into songs.
'Plenty Of Time' drops on July 7, why did you choose to release this as a single?
Spark: Actually, we have to credit Matt Waterhouse who manages many of the top UK remixers. He chose ‘Plenty Of Time’ from several of our recent recordings. He thought it would work in the UK and sent it on to Full Intention, Moto Blanco, Eric Kupper and Kris Di Angelis who all loved the song and remixed it. We have a very contemporary and cool mix package with ‘Plenty Of Time.’ The song is soon to debut on Music Week’s Upfront Club Chart and Commercial Pop Club Chart.
Who would you love to work with if you could choose anybody and why?
Juno: I think it would be fun to work with some of the great 80s artists who have influenced our sound – Pet Shop Boys, Tears For Fears. You never know – it could happen!
Spark: I would love to work with Avril Lavigne. She’s a great songwriter and artist.
What should we expect from you going forward?
Juno: We’ve been in the studio this month recording some new songs with the aim of following up ‘Plenty Of Time’ in a big way and taking Peppermint Heaven to the next level.
What's the big aim for Peppermint Heaven?
Spark: To bring about "Heaven" on earth through our music and have that last... forever!
Peppermint Heaven's new single 'Plenty of Time' is released July 7 through Megahit Records.
