Preparing to drop their debut album at the beginning of 2018, Moviestar are a unique trio of personalities, known to their fans as Infinity Vik, The Octopus Goddess and The Anaconda. Creating their own version of art punk pop, they’re reading to unleash their talents on the world. We caught up with the band to find out a little more about their sound, ambitions and more. For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
We like to consider ourselves a sci-fi infused art-pop / punk-rock act.
What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?
None. When we first landed our in our spaceship we did not know up or down on anything but we are fast learners and got that the best way to reach out to our audience is through the cunning use of body language and extreme sexual energy, just like Elvis Presley did. From there everything has been easy peasy.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
Extremely difficult since we come from the far, far future and just came through the wormhole with a gigantic wormhole jetlag. Just imagine all your molecules being disintegrated and then reintegrated. Then you have to start a band, find a name, make songs etc etc. You get the picture. All in all it’s been a really tough journey, but we are finally there. And now that we finally are here we are really sad that Siggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars are gonna, as they are the only other band we know of from space that we could have talked to about such problems.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
Imperative, since nobody seems to understand exactly how important great Rock N Roll really is, and how it finally will come to save mankind and womankind. We do not take shit from nobody. Nobody puts spacebaby in the corner! Done.
Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
We draw it from Space, the final Frontier. Mostly where no man has gone before.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
The spirit of Marilyn Monroe, because she went to bed with JFK. Then we might finally find out who shot him, poor old feller. If we can set this up, we could probably go back and forth a couple of times and prevent this terrible disaster in time to have happened.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
Octopus wears glasses when she reads. Duh.
Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?
Retrieve the stone, save the history of earth and prevent the metal wars from ever starting. The world is sick and the prescription is Rock N Roll. Like Marc Bolan said “You won't fool the children of the revolution!”
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
On earth, doing our excavation work looking for the stone, plus helping people cope and chill in holy Rock N Roll ceremony.
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
Release of holy Rock N Roll document which in your time seem to be called an Album or a Record. Record makes more sense to us, as we have many records of your Records, recorded in our Holy libraries of the old scriptures at the main Archaeology Academy for Telepathy, Magic and Space Travel in the year of 5523. On the 29th of September 2017 we embark upon the first step towards this great milestone by releasing the first chapter of our holy document, Stupid People. Later in November 2017 we will release the single Chosen Ones, which is the story of our journey here. And then great acceleration happens from the 9th of February when our Record: “Stupid People/Happy Days” will be available for all ears to hear on vinyl, streaming, CD and telepathy if you are into that.
