Releasing his single 'Global' from the album of the same name for a UK audience later this month, Leon of Athens is an artist that many people are already getting excited about.
Female First got the opportunity to put some questions to the singer about his upcoming plans, the work he puts out and much more in a new and exclusive interview. Read on to find out what he had to say.
For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
I would describe my music as indie pop/rock with hints of electro and folk.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
When it comes to making music your career the path never ceases to feel uncertain and completely unpredictable. It's essential I think to find some thrill in that in order to carry on. London is the centre of the music world, extremely competetive but highly educational and constructive when it comes to working on your art.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
I tend to feel secure in having absolute control over my creative decisions but trusting others, especially people in the industry I admire is something I acknowledge as necessary for my musical horizons to expand.
Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
From anything life has to offer. Personal and intimate experiences to anything universal. Cultural diversity is also something I draw a lot of inspiration from and one of the reasons I've chosen to live in London. Film has always been a main source of inspiration as well.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
I love Brian Eno's work both as a producer as well as a composer. I admire the way he brings pop elements into an avant-garde and art aesthetic.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
I'm picky when it comes to food.
Do you have definitive aims or goals for your career?
The only thing I care for is to aim toward my growing artistically and evolving creatively.
Where do you hope to be this time next year?
I hope to have created and released my 3rd album in the way that I envision it right now.
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
We will be touring around the UK,Greece and rest of Europe and in the fall I will be recording my next album.
Global is released 22nd June 2015 via Mimosa's Dream Records through Believe Digital.
