Learning to play the guitar at the age of 10 with the guidence of her dad, Gabrielle Jones slowly moved in to playing open mic nights, before her biggest break playing Wireless festival in 2010. Since then, she has gone on to play Hard Rock Calling Festival in 2011 and Isle of Wight festival in 2012.
Although still unsigned, Jones appreciates the time she has had to develop her music. She said: “It has been good to have some time. It has allowed me to get better and to iron out some creases.”
With a mix of acoustic ballads and edgier rock tracks, Jones feels that she can provide her audience with variety of sounds and reveals that her fans already tend to be a mix of males and females.
Jones explains her styles are often shifting and developing, saying: “My music changes and I write different kinds of things. They mainly focuses what I’m right feeling now.”
The three track teaser, released next Monday, demonstrates both singing, guitar playing and songwriting abilities as well as providing some grounding for a future full album.
Although Jones has around 50 finished tracks in her songbook, she is only focusing on the EP at the moment. She said: “I’m happy with the 50 tracks I’ve written, but I need to decide how to work them as a body of music instead of just singles. But for now, I’m just thinking about the EP.”
Jones' talent will likely begin to attract labels, but Jones is clear that she is avoiding being picked up by a label that may sway her musical integrity.
"I'm not looking to join up with someone who will start affecting my music. A label shouldn't try and change the music." she said.
