As one of Australia's hottest exports, Conrad Sewell rose to fame after his vocals made waves on Kygo single 'Firestone' and his own number one track 'Start Again'.

Now he's releasing his brand new EP and gearing up for a new single release, so we put some questions to the rising star all about his career to-date and the future.

For those who may not yet have heard your sound, how best would you describe yourself as an artist?

Soulful pop music with a little bit of a rocky edge and a BIG vocal.

You're about to go on tour with Jess Glynne throughout the UK, and you've been touring with Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran earlier in the year - what were those experiences like?

They were great, I learnt a lot. It's helping me develop as an artist, on stage and off stage. It's great to be able to learn from the best in the industry.

You've seen some big success in 2015, how does it feel to gain such recognition for your work?

It feels good, it feels like the hard work is starting to pay off and it's amazing to be able to fill a room with people that support your music and want to hear you sing. Kind of surreal.

This October you're releasing your new EP, what should we expect from that?

You should expect some soulful ballads and some uptempo funky pop rock stuff, and some r'n'b rock stuff that people are going to love, hopefully.

Tell us about the single you're choosing to release this December and why you decided on making it a single release.

It's a really special song that had a great reaction to everyone when I played it. I wanted to show I could do both sides, the funky stuff and the heart melting ballads.

How important is it for you to maintain a creative control over your material?

It's very important because I feel like kids live through fake music these days, you know, music that is from a 'pop machine', so it's really important to me.

Where do you draw influence or inspiration from as an artist?

I draw inspiration from other artists, my friends and just picking things out of life that I find interesting or girl's minds that I can't understand and writing songs about it and trying to put it into words that I feel the general public would connect with.

Who would you love to work with in the future on new music and why?

I'd like to work with Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Chris Martin, because I think they're some of the best guys around and I only f**k with the best! (laughs)

Do you have any definitive aims or goals for your career?

I'd like to win Grammys, sell out Wembley and I'd like to be remembered as one of the greats. (laughs)

What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months leading into 2016?

You should expect a lot of Conrad's face all over the internet and TV and Conrad's voice all over the radio! (laughs) Just kidding. You should expect some new songs and lots of touring and hopefully lots of radio.

Conrad's new EP 'Start Again' is out today in the UK: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/start-again-ep/id1051865563, the single of the same name impacts on December 4. Australian EP 'All I Know' is released on November 13.
