With their brand new single 'Phoenix' out now, released at the end of September, we got the opportunity to put some questions to Addeboy vs. Cliff to find out more about their music, inspirations and more…
For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?
Nowadays it's laid-back with a dreamy, groovy vibe.
What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?
It's hard to know which way to go in terms of working with people in the industry. Some people talk a lot. It has been a constant learning process. What we've learned is that it's always best to keep control as long as you possibly can before getting involved with others. Different people have different agendas.
How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?
First you must have music that will work. And then keep more coming and be consistent. That's what's hard. The second and third time around. Timing and good people around you that you can trust. It's very difficult and there's no given recipe on how to succeed.
How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?
It is crucial to trust your own instincts, but we are always open to collaborate, that's what's fun with music.
Where do you draw influence and inspiration from for your work?
Michael Jackson. But mainly the current mood and how the body feels is the biggest influence of creativity. If it is happy the need to be creative comes automatically.
If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?
Jonsi from Sigur Ros because we wanna go to Iceland and he is awesome.
Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.
Cliff thinks he has two bladders and Adde has gigantic big toes.
What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?
New songs and may some remixes. And we might show up somewhere playing live.
