We chat to Six D about 'Best Damn Night', working with choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson, supporting JLS and more.

For people who may not know, how would you describe Six D?
We are a new Six piece all singing all street dancing urban pop group!! We all come from strong musical/ dance backgrounds and collectively bring our passion for song, street dance and free-running to the stage.

What have you been up to as a band this year?
This year has been a great year for us. We supported JLS on their Outta This World tour and The Saturdays on their Headlines tour.

We got a great reaction from both sets of fans which is what we were hoping for so those tours definitely got us off to a very good start.

We've also been touring schools all over the UK and teaching dance workshops at all the schools and after school dance classes so that they get to experience all our styles of streetdance.

Are you excited for Best Damn Night to be released?
Yes were all so excited for the release of our debut single 'Best Damn Night'.

We've been working extremely hard these past few months on getting ourselves out there to the public and showing people what Six D are about and so far we've had an amazing response and we've got some amazing fans who we can't thank enough for their support!

How are fans receiving the video?
Everyone seems to be really enjoying the 'Best Damn Night' video. We've had a brilliant response.

We shot the video out in L.A with Colin Tilley who's worked with some amazing artists such as Chris Brown, so it was such an brilliant experience and we're so thrilled with the outcome!!

How was it working with Laurie Ann Gibson?
It was great to work with such an amazing choreographer and artistic director. We are the first UK act she has chosen to work with and she has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry!

So we were feeling very excited about it, and she really worked us hard! 3 weeks working everyday for 6-8hrs moulding us into performing beasts.

She really did help us along our way, just what we needed before starting an arena tour with JLS!

Who inspires you, both in terms of music and dance?
Our music and dance influences are Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and the Black Eyed Peas. They all sing and dance to a high level which helps and inspires us to do the same

How did Six D get together?
Our manager had the idea 5 years ago when he was putting together dancers and free runners for Madonna's tour.

He wanted to create a band that could street dance as well as sing so he invited around 2500 people to come and try out for the group and after a long 2 month process we were the 6 chosen!

With acts like Diversity and films like Streetdance 3D, do you think street-dancing is getting a solid reputation?
I think street dance is getting more and more popular as time goes on and we are at the pinnacle of it

How was it touring with JLS and The Saturdays?
Both were amazing experiences! The JLS tour was very memorable for us as that was the 1st time we performed as a group in public!! To have the opportunity to do that on an arena tour was at the time both exciting and nerve racking!

Now we feel so blessed to have done it along with The Saturdays tour which was a little more intimate being theatres. We've got some amazing fans from both tours and we had a great time!

What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
Well we're soon to release our debut single 'Best Damn Night'. We'll be doing lots of gigs over the summer, have busy day on 31st July, will be performing at Leeds Party In The Park and then going to Manchester MEN Arena for Key 103 Live!

Also hope to be releasing our second single in October and finish recording the rest of the album!

'Best Damn Night' is out on July 24th and can be pre-ordered now.
