Shockolady is all set to take the UK by storm with her new single Rock In My Bed - taken from her album What's The F...Fashion?
I caught up with her to talk about her new record, how her music has been received in the UK and touring with Jedward.
- Rock In My Bed is your new single so what can we expect from it?
Yeap, it’s my new single. It was picked up by the fans through Twitter and Facebook after the first big tour around the UK.
We’ve created very funny video on this song so I expect it to be really successful. I get a lot of positive feedback through the internet and really happy about it.
- The album What’s the F..Fashion? sees you work with up-and-coming Russian record producer and arranger Kolya Bichan so how did that collaboration come about? how did you find working together?
It all happened by a chance. I was looking for a good sound producer to make some cool jazz covers. And my vocal teacher told me about a very talented musician, composer and sound producer that worked in their theatre on the arrangements for the very massive Russian musical.
We had a meeting. I listened to his works and felt that he is the right person for me! Since that time we’ve created already lots of songs together.
It’s always a pleasure for me cause we discuss all the details and polish the song till it shimmers like diamond. And diamonds are the girls best friend.
- For anyone who hasn't heard your singles yet how would you describe the sound of your music? And who are your greatest influences?
My music is a mixture of Pop, Rock and Glam. Very groovy and energetic!!! There is only one lyrical song on my album. Don’t like to be sad.
My biggest influences are Michael Jackson, Pink, U2, Prodigy, Ella Fitzgerald. There is no just one particular artist that I love. I listen to absolutely different kind of music, styles. You never know what can inspire you!
- You began your career as a dancer so why and how did you make the move into music?
I was to stop my dancing career because of some problems with health that I faced. I was really depressed. But actually I had already been singing for all my life in different musicals so I decided to move more into music, song writing and singing.
And know I can sing, dance, write songs, express myself in lots of different ways. It is really fantastic!!! Now I’m absolutely sure that everything happens definitely for the reason!
- And what has the reception to your music been like in the UK?
The reception was and is very good!!! Already during the first promo tour my single What’s the F..Fashion? reached the 19th position in the UK Club Chart. Single Rock in my bed is already on the 33d position in the UK Club Chart. More and more fans are getting involved into my music!
I remember how during the support tour with Jedward audience was crying out my name at Indigo O2 in London before even music started playing!!! Very warm welcome!!!
- You supported Jedward on their tour last year so how did you find that? Did you have a good time with the two Irish boys?
Yeah, they are very funny guys. We had lots of jokes at the backstage. For example, during the sound checks when Jedward were checking the sound with my songs like Dance it out or What’s the F..Fashion?.
And their fans are really cool! We perform in different styles but mostly their fans enjoyed my music & I’ve had a great following since that time! It was a lovely experience!!
- And you are all set to go back on the road so how excited are you about your schools tour?
First of all it’s very interesting to perform in schools cause children are very honest listeners: if they like the music they will scream & go crazy with you!
Very opened hearted audience! Also I enjoyed Q&A after the gigs: great chance to learn about teens dreams!
- Finally what's next for you?
I’m going to visit Germany and have some radio & TV interviews there. My music video on ‘’What’s the F...Fashion?’’ reached #1 on iMusic1 TV Voting Chart. So I’m going to improve this success.
We have already started promotion of my new single ‘’Rock in my bed’’ & music video on this song that is really crazy! You can find it on Youtube.com, shockolady.com, etc.
And I plan to take part in lots of different festivals in Europe during this summer: Rome, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam and etc. So stay updated with me on Twitter & Facebook. All my news will be there.
