We caught up with RD ahead of their debut single release.
-Are you excited for the release of 'Got Me Burnin'?
We are VERY excited for the release of Got Me Burnin! This is our first single, we have been waiting and working for this for the past 3 years! We cannot wait to see our faces in the shops.
-How would you describe the track?
The track is really fun, it’s about having a good time in a dance, the dj is spinning your favourite tune and you cant get enough! Getting all hot and sweaty.
-How's the reaction been to the video so far?
The reaction to the video has been really positive. I think people have a clear understanding of our individual personalities form it. Oh, and did I mention it has over 100,000 hits on youtube?
-What did you think of the remixes?
The remixes were amazing. It feels so good to know that other producers are backing the track. To have people like Hudson Mohawke remix your tune is massive.
-How was it working with Geeneus on the track?
Working with Geeneus was a cool vibe. He is really relaxed and knows what he wants. We ate a good curry too!
-You were discovered on MySpace. Is it still a useful platform for up-and-coming artists?
I think Myspace is cool, but it's not as big as what it used to be. Twitter, Facebook and Youtube have definitely taken over. People go by how many hits on Youtube and followers on Twitter you have now.
-What's the best way for acts to get noticed?
I think Youtube is the way forward, to be honest. The more hits you get the more chance of getting noticed. I also think performing at intimate venues is important too. Venues like YoYo and I Love Live are good platforms for unsigned artists.
-You've had praise from the likes of Wretch 32. How does it feel getting the respect of your peers?
We have looked up to Wretch since he was doing tunes like "Punctuation". He's been dope from early. To have him support us is an honour. He deserves to be successful.
-How was it having Wretch appear on your mixtape?
To have Wretch on our mixtape was very exciting. When he came in the studio we were almost star struck. The way he works is so inspiring. He didn't even use a pen to write his bars. Super talented.
-What was the reaction like to the tape?
We got a wicked reaction to the mixape! We got like 2,000 downloads in less than 42 hours, and well over 20,000 overall. We're also the first female group to get nominated for a mixtape award!
-What do you think of the current UK live club scene?
I think UK music is totally dominating right now. Everyone is trying to jump on the sound! There are sooo many UK artists shining right now, it's such a good feeling.
-How is the album coming along?
The album is doing good so far - we have so many songs to pick from. There will be something for everyone. Hopefully it will be dropping mid next year.
-What else do you have planned for the rest of the year?
For the rest of the year we will be doing a lot of promotion for Got Me Burning, loads of club tours, radio tours, TV appearances.
We are also on the Tinchy Stryder "Rollercoaster" Tour - so cop your tickets! We just got to get ourselves out there and let everybody know who RD are.
All our information for shows will be on our website RDOFFICIAL.COM. If Ya Don't Know, Get To Know.
