Here at FemaleFirst, we always have our eyes peeled for hot new talent, and to us Livvi Frank is the perfect package to make us smile during the summer sunshine.
Hello there pretty, how are things going in your lovely world?
QUITE LIVVILICIOUS!!! Fun, Frantic and Fabulous..
To anyone who hasn’t heard of you yet, how would you describe your sound?
It'll get your hips moving! My sound is a fusion of pop, reggae, soul, rock, country - it's quirky and edgy!
Tell us a bit about the inspiration behind your foxy new record…
All of my friends know that I have long drummed to a different beat... or hummed to a different tune! If everyone’s going left, then I am going right….and going right without out hesitation! So you will hear “Free” and think that you understand my sound and style…and then you will hear my song “Now I’m that Bitch” and be like, is this the same artist? Yes it is!!! And that is the essence of Livvi…she is a Bajan-Brit (my new term for defining my background. It is a fusion of Barbados and Britain) or babe in total control of herself! that was the inspiration for "Free". It was about knowing that you can do whatever you want without apology!
If you were going to give us just one song of yours to listen to so that you would become our new favourite singer, what would it be?
Wow...I need a minute...this is so hard! Ok, there are two songs- "Hummingbird" and "Now I'm That Bitch"...they are so different yet sooo Livvi at the same time!
If you could cover another musician’s song, what would it be?
Why do you keep trying to make me pick one of something?? It is so hard!! But if I must, I guess it would be "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson with a Livvi twist....I just love it.
And can you sum up your good self in just five words?
Quirky, fun, easy-going, complex, Gemini
What makes you stand out from the crowd?
Well I literally stand out with my beloved 5-inch heels on which makes me over six feet (I am 5'10" already!)! My accent...I've got a mixed up accent compliments of Barbados and England! It has people wondering all the time! And, I am extremely SILLY!!! I am forever finding something to laugh at... I am committed to keeping humour alive!!
You know we’re having a bit of an economic crisis here at the moment, if people wanted to spend their last £10 on a cd this weekend, why should they buy yours?
Well considering these hard times I know everyone needs an escape… that's what my album will give you, a musical escape experience. It'll take you on an amazing ride all the way to the white sandy beaches of Barbados via some night clubs in LA, and buzzing streets of New York. And you can stay for however long you want!! All for just 10 pounds!! Tell me where you'll a better deal than that!
What three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?
You said "dream" so here I go... Bob Marley and the Whalers, The Spice Girls, No Doubt, Beyonce and Paramore. I know, I know, I picked five acts! Just think "Free." :)
What has been your favourite musical memory to date?
My first big performance at the Barbados Music Awards...wow! I just love performing live! But that performance gave me even more proof that I was born to do this! It was the band, the size of the screaming crowd and the energy!
Who do you think is the greatest artist around at the moment?
There you go again! Hmmm... I think Beyonce is amazing... she has perfected her craft and is so dedicated and committed. Her performances are pure ‘fyah‘! She is always on point! She is definitely one of the great ones for sure!
If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sade "Lover's Rock" It takes me to a different place.
Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions; On an airplane you are talking pleasantly to a person of average appearance. Unexpectedly, the person offers you $10, 000 (£5, 000) for one night of sex. Knowing there is no danger and that payment is certain, would you accept the offer?
Umm you didn't mention whether or not he'd blab to the tabloids about our one night rendezvous.. Haha ..ok I'm kidding! I wouldn't entertain that! I do nothing on planes but listen to my ipod and sleep, so no chance of chatting to any average looking guys or anyone at all.
Name an experience which features an animal that you will never forget.
I was driving one day in Barbados and a chicken...yes a chicken flew into my windshield!! What are the chances of THAT happening!! Don't worry he was ok..Just a few lost feathers, but I was traumatized!! It would have burdened me forever if he met an untimely death...but it wasn't my fault….Really!!
What one thing did you always want as a child but never get?
Braces...lol..I used to think they were so cool!! And to meet the Spice Girls!
