You asked them, and they answered. The He Met Her pairing of Rocky and Mogli had a look over the questions you fired in for us and gave them the best shot they could.
So, with no further ado here they are;
What other bands or musicians inspire you? And whose music are you enjoying listening to at the moment?
We are really inspired by a lot of different kinds of music. stuff from the 20s to present time, classical, ambient & we dig alternative rock especially from the 90s. The artists we really appreciate now are The Weeknd, Grimes, The XX, Jeremih, Lana Del Rey, Frank Ocean, Drake, Metronomy, Kanye West & G.O.O.D. Music, Made in Heights & Neon Indian.
What do you guys like about being in the UK?
We like the way people have a respect & positive acknowledgement for new artists. It feels like in the UK, people really cherish being tastemakers. We also don't mind the attention we get from our accent either, usually it;s the other way around. ;)
What's your songwriting process like? Do you ever have arguments about certain lyrics or who sings what?
We actually work really well together, that's kind of the magic of the songmaking. We have a super organic outlook for every song & we both work at once creating and brainstorming together. So no, we usually don;t fight over who sings what, because every part of the song is part of both of us.
You have been compared to the likes of LCD Soundsystem so what do think of those comparisons?
We think it's cool for people to use comparisons, if it makes you understand us more : )
If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life (and you can't choose your own) what would it be?
Rocky: Rock Steady by No Doubt
Mowgli: Bone Thugs N Harmony
But really we'd be cheeky & make a mix tape with all of our favorites :)
You both like fashion, how would describe your style and who are your personal icons?
We love being natural, wearing what you feel like wearing is super important. Our moods are always reflective of our style. Our favourite styling trick is to take a classic idea or outfit & add that personal or new flair. I guess anyone who kind of follows that mantra is our icon.
With the whole furore about illegally downloaded music, what do you think about fans getting hold of your music by illegal means?
Firstly we always say SUPPORT MUSIC! :) But, if people are getting our music and listening to it we're happy....the thing that upsets us the most part pirating the music is they don't get the best quality song!!!
The Control video is so cool! What was the inspiration behind it?
We LOVED the movie "Drive". After we saw that film we really got inspired to have our new video be something super cinematic and gritty, but still beautiful. The video was all about our connection & the setting, it was all about intensity & vibrance. We actually ended up coincidentally filming in the same motel that a scene from "Drive" was filmed in! So, it all felt really right in the end.
Who are your current tip for a new act to blow the world away?
Just be honest to yourself and your art. People can smell bullshit. The rest is just up to having a positive outlook & good energy.
LCD Soundsytem have called THE FALL one of their biggest influences. As a band with similar vibe do you look up to them too? As they are a real love or hate band.
We really don't even know the Fall !! :/ But we have a friend that really likes them & we trust her taste ;)
