Have played trumpet with Nancy Sinatra, George Benson, Gladys Knight, The Andy Prior Big Band, The Bert Kaempfurt orchestra and shows including Chicago, The Genius of Ray Charles and The Ratpack, Georgina Bromilow looks set to be one of the brightest stars of 2009.
To anyone who hasn’t heard of you yet, how would you describe your sound?
Its swinging and romantic! There is a 14 piece big band and strings on the album so its also a fairly big luxurious sound!
Tell us a bit about the inspiration behind your foxy new record…
I really wanted to make an album of songs I really loved that all conveyed slightly different emotions and moods, because I have a lot of changing moods….
If you were going to give us just one song of yours to listen to so that you would become our new favourite singer, what would it be?
‘Change Partners’ it’s a beautiful song featuring the string section. It’s all about the feeling youget when you see a man you really fancy dancing and flirting with another girl all night and desperately thinking of ways you can get him to dance with you instead!
If you could cover another musician’s song, what would it be?
Well I mostly cover jazz standards so if I could cover another type of song it would be ‘Love will keep us together’ by Captain and Tennille, that’s a cracker!
And can you sum up your good self in just five words?
Mmmm, having texted my friends to ask, the nicer words they said were were – chatty, loyal, hungry, bubbly, disorganised!
What makes you stand out from the crowd?
My trumpet and my big ‘big’ toes.
You know we’re having a bit of an economic crisis here at the moment, if people wanted to spend their last £10 on a cd this weekend, why should they buy yours?
Because some of it should make you feel like you have stepped into a warm bath and the other bits like you have stepped into a fabulous 60’s nightspot!
What three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?
Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder (Sorry, not really possible at all!)
What has been your favourite musical memory to date?
Performing for Bruce Forsyth and Paul Merton at Ronnie Scotts Jazz club in London (there were other people there too!)
Who do you think is the greatest artist around at the moment?
I do love Diana Krall and everything she does but I am a massive Beatles fan and think that Paul Mcartney is a genius.
If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably ‘The Main Event’ Frank Sinatra. It’s a live recording at Madison Square Gardens in New York with a huge orchestra. You feel like you were actually at the concert when you are listening, its very exciting!
Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions; On an airplane you are talking pleasantly to a person of average appearance. Unexpectedly, the person offers you $10, 000 (£5, 000) for one night of sex. Knowing there is no danger and that payment is certain, would you accept the offer?
I would politely decline whilst trying to pinch his cheese and crackers.
Name an experience which features an animal that you will never forget.
I randomly came across an iguana on a street and screamed and jumped up and down a lot, poor thing! (Am not great with animals!)
What one thing did you always want as a child but never get?
A Mr Frosty.
Cheers, good luck with everything & thanks for making my day slightly more entertaining!
