Dee-Lux

How did you start out making music?

JOEL: Pots and pans aged 1.5

ROBIN: I taught myself guitar at the age of 10 and by the time I was 15 I was sitting writing my own songs on a cheap spanish guitar. I got into DJ'ing when I was 14 but didn't bring together my song writing and passion for dance music until I was 20 when I bought my first synthesiser. It has been a long path but there have been so many great times along the way.

What inspired your latest single?

JOEL: Death, lust and rust

ROBIN: We wanted to create a record that was fun and focused on the dance-floor...that's what DEE-LUX is all about, we're here for you to party!

What process do you go through in creating a track?

JOEL: Get out of bed and walk to my studio whilst humming the tune I just dreamt about.

ROBIN:  It's all about the funk. Gotta start with a great groove and backing lick, then it's time to fire up the synths!

Which artists influence your work?

JOEL: Julian cope, Syd barrett, Storm Thorgerson, Picasso.

ROBIN:  I like listening to the production in so many artists work.  I take inspiration from so many places. Dizee Rascal, Keane, Prodigy, Fake Blood, Led Zeppelin, N.E.R.D, David Guetta, Basement Jaxx, Jimi Hendrix, Ruben Gonzalez - a wide range

What would you say to someone experiencing your music for the first time?

JOEL: Cabbage soup

ROBIN:  Turn it up nice and loud and dance like you're mental!!

What are your ambitions….and for the future?

JOEL:  sdrawkcab gnihtyreve od ot nrael ot

ROBIN:  My ambition is to be the best at what I do and for Joel and I to continue making great music for ourselves and other artists. We have just worked with Perry Mystique and Sway on a record, we've cut a great record with DJ IRONIK and are now getting stuck into a new record with Jamaica's Busy Signal - I want to continue doing what we're doing - producing the best of the best and ultimately creating great music. Oh, and World Domination ;) hahaha
