Bashy

Bashy

Bashy is set to make waves on the UK music scene this year, so we caught up with the musical wonder to find out just what makes him tick!

Bashy! We are proper 100% loving your super hot new record...tell us a bit about the inspiration behind it...

(Laughs) Thanks, glad your feeling it, Boy, deep down I think everyone wants to be a millionaire, so they can live out their dreams. The track talks about staying focused, the importance of money but also talks about how to be free with money as its only paper, it doesn't really mean anything but a promise to pay the bearer on demand.

To anyone who hasn't heard of you yet, how would you describe your sound?

The sound of life. My music is about life & all things in it. Love, hate, stress, sex & everything else. It's a mixture of different styles. I grew up listening to my mums lovers rock & my dad's revival music. My older cousins were Jungle maniacs plus Ragga was just playing at all the family house parties. I actually listened to 90's R&B then Garage followed so I draw influences from all those.

If you were going to give us just one song of yours to listen to so that you would become our new favourite singer, what would it be?

I couldn't just give you one song. I'd give you 'Catch Me if You Can' & then you'd love me forever, cos you'd feel my life.

If you could cover another artist's song, what would it be?

Bob Marley - Could You Be Loved...I get goose bumps when I hear that song.

And can you sum up your good self in just five words?

Bashy, Different, New-Age, Actor & Ashley

What makes you stand out from the crowd?

I ain’t afraid to be me. I like to stand out from the crowd, try new things & break stereotypes. My music is different cos its about me & I'm very personal on tracks. The way I dress, talk & act all contribute. What's the point in being the same....Nothing, we might as well be back in school uniform then.

You know we're having a bit of an economic crisis here at the moment, if people wanted to spend their last £10 on a cd this weekend, why should they buy yours?

You just need to buy it. The album will last you a life time, its timeless. There isn't anything like this out there musically or content wise. It has no age limit anyone can draw something or relate to it. Plus you'll probably have a pound coin spare so have some medium fries on me.

What three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?

Bands?? (Laughs) Okay. Jodeci from the 90's though, do remember them, do you know who they are? (Laughs again). Jamiroquai...(Sings Virtual Insanity Chorus) & KNJ (Kanye West, Jay Z & Nas) I know they aint band but they are for my dream festival.

What has been your favourite musical memory to date?

Having the theme song to Adulthood. My music was everywhere ITV & all sorts.

Who do you think is the greatest artist around at the moment?

Kanye West is on another planet right now. I wonder if he can act though.

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would have to be an old school garage mix cd, with some classics on it. Pure Garage or something.

Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions;

Do your thing.

What's the most stupid purchase you've ever made?

A gym membership...I've had it for three years & I hardly ever go...waste of
frigging money.

Why go to the top of a tall building, only to put money in binoculars and look at things on the ground?

Is that a joke? I go up there to spy on people, cos even though I hate to admit it, I'm nosey.

Haha I love it! Well best of luck with everything!
