24 year old Irish singer/songwriter Wallis Bird, whose digital debut album release shot into the iTunes album chart at No4, has announced a 9 date tour of the UK, kicking off at London’S Camden Enterprise on 13th September. Wallis releases the CD format of debut album Spoons on 22nd October, preceded by the single Blossoms In The Street on 15th October.‘Blossoms In The Street’ is a tang of Edie Brickell with a touch of Joni Mitchell, and a big fat slab of a singer-songwriter who plays guitar with years of carefree, self-taught abandon, despite a terrible lawnmower accident at an early age which severed all the fingers on her left hand. Wallis Bird can whisper as movingly as she can holler, and pours her heart and soul and guts into every word she writes: I shave my legs today, she sings with quiet intensity, and hope someone may want to touch my skin. Although born in County Meath, Ireland, Wallis cut her musical teeth in Germany, having formed a band with two German brothers, Christian (drums) and Michael (bass) Vine. The band were later joined by Aoife O’Sullivan (voila/additional vocals) and went on to spend 18 months touring in Germany where they now play to packed houses where the average crowd totals around 650 people.
