Song To Self is released on January 5th and will be available on digital download and on limited 7â vinyl featuring a special extended version of Song To Self. The B-side is The Ballad Of J Smith, a new song unavailable elsewhere.
A live favourite of the bands - âa naturally big songâ says Fran and a âbeautiful, lilting pop songâ according to the Sunday Times, Song To Self sees Travis at their intimately anthemic best.
Travis have just returned from the U.S and South America where in addition to their own show at LAâs legendary Troubadour, they supported REM in Peru and Venezuela. A run of European dates in December concludes a busy live schedule that included key summer festivals â Fuji Rock and V Festival amongst them - and an autumn UK tour.
The closing show â a triumphant sell out gig at Londonâs Astoria â garnered 4/5 reviews across the board, a reminder of why Travis remain one of the UKâs most popular live acts.
Their current album Ode To J Smith, Travis sixth studio album, is their loudest, edgiest and most arresting record since their debut. Written in 5 weeks and recorded in just 14 days, itâs the sound of a band re-born, re-inspired and re-energised.
The album picked up universal plaudits on itâs release in September and bassist Dougie Payne says; âWe really pushed ourselves. Itâs like prog-pop; lots happening in about three minutesâ.
