The Robbie Boyd Band have achieved a lot in just under two years; having had several spins on BBC Radio 2, shared the stage with The Kooks at Harvest at Jimmy’s Festival, Johnny Flynn at Get Loaded in the Park and The Delays at the 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and amassed over 370,000 views on their official YouTube channel.
They are now preparing for the release of their debut single ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ and EP ‘Autumn’s Flown’ with a UK tour planned for May/June.
Front man Robbie’s enchanting songwriting and distinctive vocals, combined with the band’s colourful arrangements and nostalgic harmonies, result in a contemporary Folk-Pop sound. Debut single ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ is a perfect example of this, with its upbeat musicianship and irresistibly infectious chorus destined to have a lasting effect on you.
The song has already been played on BBC Radio 2 by Graham Norton, BBC Introducing by Tom Robinson, BBC Manchester by Darryl Morris and Q Radio by Caroline Bevan. The band have also performed a live session for Jo Good's Late Show on BBC London Radio.
Robbie’s song ‘Oh Alaska’ was his first to be played on BBC Radio 2 by Sir Tim Rice, and has now made the finals of the International Songwriting Competition based in Nashville.
The band's uplifting live performances have seen them quickly establish a large and loyal international fan base of more than 7,000 Facebook fans, with shows already played in France, Austria and Italy, and their most recent London appearances at The Bedford and The Bowery were both sell outs.
