The Penelopes release their final single for 2012 in the shape of ‘Now Now Now’ on December 10th and announce their exciting UK tour support with The Human League, which starts on November 23rd.
The Penelopes are Axel Basquiat and Vincent T. Originally from Paris, the duo moved to East London earlier this year, as a result of a growing UK interest in their electro, indie-pop infused sound.
So far this interest has garnered them influential music reviews, a top 2 and 10 on the Hype Machine’s ‘Most Popular Tracks on Blogs’ and radio support from Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Chris Hawkins (6Music) and XFM’s John Kennedy.
Though the French electronic scene wasn’t to be the band’s natural home, the worlds of fashion and music collided (as they tend to do) when, one day, designer, mentor and patron of the arts Agnés B came to an early Penelopes show.
Together with her, the band have gone on to travel the world playing live at Agnés B fashion shows in Japan, Hong Kong, Paris and New York. The duo also has links with Fred Perry and Ben Sherman - taking part in fashion shoots for both labels.
‘Now Now Now’ is taken from The Penelopes’ album ‘Never Live Another Day’, which was released earlier this year to rave reviews and was produced by Dan Grech (The Vaccines, Lana Del Rey, Keane, Scissor Sisters).
The video for the single is directed by Ollie Evans (Tom Vek, The Gossip, Foals) and showcases an explosive and colourful mix of lush keyboard squelches, funky guitar and infectious bass line. New remixes come courtesy of C90 and Miguel Campbell.
