The Futureheads

The Futureheads

The Futureheads release their new single, ‘Heartbeat Song’ on the 12th April 2010. It is the first to be taken from their forthcoming fourth album, ‘The Chaos’ on the 26th April.

The Futureheads return with a bold new sound at a time of uncertainty and confusion for their country and beyond. As the public face collective decisions over their future with very little clarity or guidance, The Futureheads bravely promise new hope. It is a crucial time to lift spirits and be positive, and ‘The Chaos’ is a positive record in sound and in its messages.

Following high-profile support slots with Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters, this four piece from Sunderland have taken heed of these arena-filling juggernauts and written songs that rip through walls with the scale and force of their delivery. Remaining fiercely loyal to their Mackem roots, the new album was recorded over a series of sessions with long-standing friend David Brewis (Field Music), and renowned producer Youth.

Now in fourth album territory, The Futureheads have long since outgrown scenes, shed immediate ties with their post-punk influences, and outlived many of their peers as a British favourite, both on record and live. Having originally met at college and made use of a local ‘youth development project’ building to write their first songs, The Futureheads have always made the most of what they have around them. This time around it is the present state of our nation that has acted as the primary source of inspiration.

Following a free download (Struck Dumb) at the end of 2009, Heartbeat Song is the first single proper; a powerful, melody-fuelled rock song that re-introduces The Futureheads with their trademark harmonies but in cohesion with a harder edged, punk deliverance.
