The debut Album, Dwell April 28th Iowa quartet The Envy Corps will release their debut album, Dwell, on Vertigo on April 28th. The album will be preceded by a single, Story Problem, on April 21st and accompanied by soon to be confirmed UK tour dates and summer festival appearances. The release of Dwell was delayed from its original date after Envy Corps guitarist Brandon Darner suffered a stroke whilst onstage in London last September. Having made a remarkable recovery, even managing to get back out on the road to finish some of their scheduled dates that autumn, the band returned to Iowa before Christmas to give Darner time off to recover fully. Now, in time for the release of the album, what better way for The Envy Corps to demonstrate just what rude health theyre in than with the release of Story Problem as a single.A joyful, clattering celebration that builds into the kind of chaotic singalong chorus that Glastonbury was made for, a probe to Envy Corps frontman Luke Petipoole about the roots of Story Problem reveals the shocking truth that the song was actually written in jail. Ask why, precisely, this mild-mannered man was imprisoned, and his face will fold into an embarrassed smile, and his cheeks will redden. "No comment," he says, "but I will tell you this: it was a one-off, and for one night only. I am not generally a deviant."When the band return for UK dates later this spring we can pin him down and question him further on the back story, but in the meantime, enjoy it for the joyful indie pop anthem in waiting that it is, and for the superb and hilarious video that accompanies it, inspired by Japanese gameshow Takeshis Castle.
