Around The Bend is the brilliant new single from buzz band The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. As the dark nights draw in and an autumnal chill takes up residence Around The Bend is an aural reminder of the heady days of summer good times.
Itâs a sunny slice of blissed-out pop, guaranteed to get any party going, and perfectly showcases singer Mette Lindbergâs kooky, compelling vocals. The song features the bandâs trademark horn section that reflects their fascination with sixties soul and gives their sound a twist of psychedelic pop epic-ness.
The track will be available as part of a 3-track digital EP to be released on 24th November. Other songs included are âPush The Envelopeâ and âSatelliteâ.
Around The Bend is the follow up to the Asteroidsâ debut single The Sun Ainât Shining No More which received fantastic support from all the key tastemakers across XFM, 6Music, Radio1 (including plays from Jo Whiley) and Radio 2.
The band also has several live sessions in the bag, including Dermot OâLeary and Radcliffe & Maconie on Radio 2. The uber-cool video received plays across a number of music channels including NME TV, 4Music and E4 Music.
Formed only a year ago, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, aka Lars Iversen and Mette Lindberg, are heading for fame at a speed even they didnât expect. Their debut gig saw them support Amy Winehouse at the biggest venue in their native Copenhagen.
Soon after, a demo found its way to London and within days the band were offered a management deal. And theyâve barely stopped to draw breath since.
Mette and Lars are the core of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, but live, the band grow to a six-piece. Included are a fully fledged horn section of trumpet and sax players, clavinet sounds, a drummer and a guitarist.
With more gigs to be scheduled for the UK later this year and their debut album due for release in early 2009, itâs exciting times ahead for these talented newcomers.
